Glance at the front page of any major website or newspaper–New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune–and you’ll see there’s just one topic of actual importance to your health and longevity.
Now take a few focused breaths and return to calm. You’re not alone with your anxiety. There are actually national shortages of certain anti-anxiety and sleep meds.
So let’s review the steps to reduce your risk of becoming ill. You know a lot of this already, but repetition is good for us in times of crisis.
Bite the bullet and accept the fact that the federal government (and many state governments) have been beyond useless since the pandemic began. Moreover, much of their advice has been dangerous. Perhaps the one person in the US whose advice we trust, Anthony Fauci, MD, has been silenced by the White House and has not met with the president since early June.
This means that you’re pretty much on your own.
But remember: your brain and survival instincts are intact. With precautions, we’ll get through this. The real danger is that you may be surrounded by low-information Americans or genuine idiots with no common sense. For example, here’s an indoor photo of a herd of people from mid-June, all of them unmasked.
Survival steps
In addition to keeping six feet away from others, washing your hands regularly, and sanitizing them frequently when out in the world, follow these steps.
Step one Here’s a chart showing the relative dangers of different activities. Print out a couple of copies and tape one to your refrigerator. Carry the other with you and refer to it frequently.
Step two Keep a good supply of masks and wear one any time you’re in a public place. This is not a political issue any more than driving with a seatbelt, using meds with safety caps, or telling your kid about stranger danger is political. Why in the midst of a pandemic it took the president until July 11 to wear a mask in public for the first time is beyond comprehension.
Step three Since state-by-state re-opening schedules are disorganized and chaotic, keep an eye on the states where infection rates have dropped and do what they do. Pay attention to Rhode Island and Connecticut (cautious reopening, informed and cooperative citizenry). Click here to read how it appears Italy has emerged a real winner.
Step four Check your supply of immune-boosting supplements. The most useful are:
—Vitamin C (1,000 to 2,000 mg/day).
—Vitamin D (5,000 IU/day).
—Zinc picolinate (50 to 100 mg/day).
–Any of the excellent mushroom blends (Five Defenders, ImmunoKinoko, Mycotake) and/or herbal blends such as EHB (which contains echinacea, hydrastine, and berberine).
Immune Boost IV
If you really want to be armed to the teeth, call and schedule our proprietary Immune Boost IV, which can be administered in less than the 30 minutes it takes to check your messages.
You’ll receive one liter of a balanced electrolyte fluid with a mega-dose of WholeHealth Chicago’s blend of powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory vitamins, including vitamin C, zinc, and B vitamins.
It’s well accepted that the strength of your immune system is very much dependent on the state of your nutrition. Both vitamin C and zinc, for example, have direct immune-stimulating and antiviral effects. However, many of us are deficient in one or the other (or both) because we’re either inattentive to what we eat or the supplements we select aren’t being efficiently absorbed by our digestive tracts.
Click here and scroll down past the first box to see a list of zinc-rich foods, which you’ll want to regularly include in your meal plans. Along with zinc all-star the oyster, topping the charts are beef, spinach, asparagus, and mushrooms (sounds like dinner to me), while vegetables, nuts, and seeds also contribute to your daily totals. Click here and scroll to check the vitamin C-rich foods list (spoiler alert: broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and bell peppers hover right at the top).
The Immune Boost IV provides doses of these important nutrients approximately 20 times more potent than versions you take by mouth. You couldn’t swallow enough tablets to equal the IV dose without upsetting your stomach. Additionally, IV-delivered supplements bypass the breakdown by stomach acid and enzymes (and also detoxification by your liver) to work directly at a cellular level.
I frequently measure zinc levels in my patients and have been really surprised how many people have blood levels well below average.
Receiving supplements intravenously means that your body takes in 100% of each supplement. Your cells receive the benefits immediately and side effects are minimal—not much more than the tiny pinch of the needle being inserted.
For best results, plan on an IV treatment every 10 to 14 days.
Be well,
David Edelberg, MD
Dear Dr. E,
Very informative article. Thank you.
I did notice, however, that “rioting/looting” was not listed on the risk chart.

By any miracle are the IV treatments covered by “good” insurance? Thanks!
Robin
Hi Robin,
Though we wish they were, these IVs are not covered by insurance plans.
