Jeanette, sitting across from me, was genuinely frightened about her future. Yes, she did have several elderly relatives with what she was calling “Alzheimer’s”, but I quickly pointed out that not all causes of dementia are due to Alzheimer’s Disease and much of dementia is both preventable and reversible. I asked what steps she had […]
Home / About Us
The Midwest’s oldest and most respected center for integrative care, successfully blending the latest advances in conventional medicine with a wide range of clinically proven alternative therapies.
We are a healthcare practice that strives to integrate the best of conventional and complementary medicine in a caring and healing environment. We believe that both health and disease are functions of physical, emotional, nutritional, and spiritual influences. Many health issues are rooted in a patient’s personal biography – the story of your life – and are most effectively treated by addressing root causes rather than symptoms alone.
As practitioners, we are actively involved in our own ongoing personal and professional development through continued study and self-care, and we believe the best healthcare draws on a broad array of tools to address the diverse elements that influence health.
There are many ways to encourage our patients’ healing abilities, including many that are not yet considered conventional. We are leaders in the responsible introduction of new treatments and therapies that we know can benefit our patients.
Our relationship with each patient is a genuine partnership. Your visit begins as we listen and try to understand not only your needs but the circumstances surrounding your symptoms. Together, we then develop a healing path to help guide the patient to better health. Together, we share responsibility for the successful journey along that healing path.
We are passionate about helping our patients achieve their health goals whether you are looking for prevention, chronic care, optimization or anything in between.
Our practice adheres to the highest ethical and professional standards, and we believe that your total experience at WholeHealth Chicago should exceed your expectations. This includes interactions with all of our support and administrative staff.
Our aim, whenever possible, is for you to feel better when you leave our office than when you arrived.
Meet the Practitioners
Medical Director & Internal Medicine Physician
Dr. Edelberg, board certified in Internal Medicine in 1974, began incorporating alternative therapies into his practice during the 1980’s. Since founding the parent company of WholeHealth Chicago in 1993, he has become nationally recognized as one of the pioneers of integrative medicine, the new medical specialty combining conventional medicine with alternative therapies.
Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine
Caley Scott is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. Scott developed a passion for naturopathic medicine while working as a medical assistant at an integrative clinic in the Chicago suburbs after completing her bachelor’s degree. Seeing first-hand the incredible success of using nutrition and natural therapies with her patients helped shape her view on healthcare and compelled her to seek a unique route in medicine.
Functional Medicine Physician
Dr. Parisa Samsami is a Chiropractic Physician specializing in Functional Medicine. She has great success in treating patients unable to find answers in the traditional medical paradigm. You’ll see ultraviolet lamps in many areas of hospitals and medical centers used in a variety of ways. Doctors began to appreciate the healing powers of ultraviolet light as far back as the early years of the 20th century. In 1903, Dr. Niels Finsen won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for curing lupus of the skin with ultraviolet violet. To this day, dermatologists rely on external UV for psoriasis and certain skin cancers. But sterilizing medical equipment, or treating psoriasis, use UV externally.
If you’ve ever undergone surgery, either “emergency” (like “we need to remove your appendix
NOW”) or “elective” (a strange term basically meaning “you can put your surgery off until it’s
convenient for either of us but let’s not forget about it”), you may remember you needed to
undergo “surgical clearance.”
If you’ve been to either of our centers, I’m sure you’ve seen the large leather recliner chairs, often containing a patient, busy on their smartphone, tablet or reading a book and on the receiving end of an intravenous drip. Over the next few Health Tips, I’ll be talking about what these infusions are used for […]
There’s some interesting data in this Health Tip based on both recent and older research concerning our screen viewing habits and their effects on both mind and body. When I present you with a “number” like this one, “the average American watches 3.1 hours of TV every day” (in this, we’re highest in the world), […]
It was like magic. After three years of sickness, death, lockdowns, masks, taking our temperatures, measuring oxygen levels, suddenly everyone on the planet seemed so shout “Don’t talk to me about COVID anymore!” The CDC loosened its guidelines, schools reopened, retail stores, big events, public transportation all became masks “optional.” When I’m outside about 3% […]
