Here’s a quick health tip if your cholesterol is on the high side. Make your daily breakfast a bowl of oatmeal and one red grapefruit.
You’re likely already aware of oatmeal’s cholesterol-lowering effects, but those of red grapefruit are the result of newly published study.
Researchers at Hebrew University in Jerusalem uncovered astonishing reductions of 15% in total cholesterol and 20% in LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels among high-cholesterol patients after just thirty days of red grapefruit eating, compared to a non-grapefruit eating control group. Light-colored grapefruit worked, but nowhere near as dramatically as the red.
Just about everybody on the planet knows that cholesterol sludge blocks arteries. And cholesterol-lowering medications from the statin family (Lipitor, Zocor, etc.) can cause liver damage, muscle cramps, even mental confusion.
Enjoy a red grapefruit every day.
