There was an astonishing experiment described in “UltraProcessed People”, by Chris van Tulleken. It had been conducted in Brazil where they’re light years ahead of us in terms of food safety. They took a number of volunteers, and divided them into two equal groups, A and B. For two months, each group was allowed anything they wanted to eat in terms of content. There were no restrictions on fat, protein, carbs and both groups had the same number of calories. The only difference between the groups was that group A’s food contained NO additives, chemicals, preservatives, etc. while group B was filled with them.

After two months, same number of calories, group A lost an average 4 pounds each, group B gained 4 pounds. 

Then, being good scientists, they did a crossover. Group A began eating the chemical laced, foods, group B went squeaky clean.

And you can guess what happened. Group A gained weight, Group B lost weight.

Conclusion: The obesity villain is not fat, sugar, carbs, keto or not keto and not even calories. The obesity villains are the chemical additives in food to enhance its color, make it tastier, extend its shelf life and change our bodies down to our very cells.

PRINGLES: CRACK IN A TUBE

That’s what the British newspaper, Guardian, called those yummy, not-real-potato chips deliberately shaped like your tongue to maximize their flavor absorption. They were reporting a lawsuit of the government versus the Pringle company which had claimed a tax exemption as a potato chip. The government said ‘no’. By the time some Pringles reach your stomach, they’re not much of anything except a glob of dehydrated processed potato flour, corn, wheat, and assorted chemicals designed to trick your brain into wanting more.

The chemicals in Pringles are among the thousands that our government freely allows the food industry to pour into what we feed ourselves, families and our livestock. Each chemical is designated “GRAS”, Generally Recognized As Safe. 

As years pass, you, your kids, your pets, your livestock will all eat more than any of you should, since one of the known effects of chemically altered food is to create food addictive behaviors. Here’s an experiment to try on your own turf if you have access to a kid. Try giving the kid a recommended serving size of Lucky Charms cereal (one cup), then offer him/her, “Take as many helpings as you like!”, and prepare for a shock as he/she will pour a second cup and maybe some of a third. Just like you did with that wad of Pringles.

ARE YOU ADDICTED TO FOOD? 

Yes, probably, but you didn’t know how you became addicted. The real obesity issues throughout the world came when chemicals were freely added to foods. And obesity is slowly being reversed in those countries (France, Italy, Brazil, the U.K.) where the government is stepping in and acting on a genuine public health crisis. Filing lawsuits. Printing warning labels. You might think you’re overweight because you’re not exercising enough but kiddo, you’ve got it all wrong.

How to Start

    I don’t read every one… but when I do, I am inspired to lead a healthier life!!!
