She had wisely trimmed her fingernails to avoid injuring her own skin, but as she sat in my office she continuously rubbed one part of her body or another with the ball of her thumb in order to relieve the itching. Tracy was in her 20s and accompanied by her mother. Although I could see […]
Low Dose Immunotherapy
Services / Low Dose Immunotherapy
Safe natural therapy to heal illness and improve well-being
WHAT IS LDI?
You can think of LDI as an extremely diluted version of an allergy shot that is given orally. LDI promotes specific immune tolerance to target antigens to stop inappropriate and unnecessary immune reactivity. In chronic diseases such as autoimmune, chronic allergies and Lyme, the immune system has mounted an inappropriate and persistent attack. In this model, the infection theory of chronic conditions such as autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis, Lyme Disease and even acne is replaced with the idea that the immune system has become overactive and “confused” by a specific antigen (i.e. bacteria, virus, or fungus).
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LDI?
- Works well with ALL therapies, except immunosuppresants
- Cost effective- $25 per dose which can last up to 7 weeks
- Easy to administer, non-invasive and quick-acting
- Removes the hypersensitivity component of chronic diseases and allergies
HOW DOES LDI WORK?
We are not killing any microbes , strengthening or boosting the immune system with LDI. Instead, we are getting the patient’s body to stop fighting an unnecessary war with an antigen and restore normal balance. We should be living in that state of balance and appropriate immune tolerance/defense toward those organisms. When tolerance fails, a chronic inflammatory condition results. The same mechanism applies to allergies, except that allergies live outside the body.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
When any of the microbial antigens (bacteria, fungi, virus or protozoa) are used, the patient will see changes in their chronic symptoms. These changes could be for the better or for the worse, which then guides the future dosing for the patient. Any outcome is considered a response and indicates that the immune system is being affected. Patients might feel ill on LDI for a bit but this can be changed by moving to a lower dosage.
HOW DO I START?
Beginning dosage depends on the patient’s sensitivity: Average= 15 C, Sensitive= 20 C and Very sensitive= 25 C+. Reassessment of dosage is 10 days from the initial dose. If the patient is feeling better they are given a booster dose to keep the improvement progressing. If the patient is feeling worse, they are given a much lower dose. If the patient is feeling the same, they are given a higher dose. Once the optimal dose Is found, the target dose is given every 7 weeks. Booster doses can be given in the meantime.

And among other symptoms, indeed she was. Julia, a bright 40-something, had written “fatigue,” “pain,” “bad digestion,” and “brain fog” on her WholeHealth Chicago intake paperwork. She’d been ill for years and brought with her two binders full of medical info on herself. The thicker of these contained accumulated medical records, lab tests, imaging studies, […]
