What is the Biochemic System:
Biochemic Therapeutics is based on the philosophy that the structure and vitality of the organs of the body are dependent upon certain necessary quantities and functioning of its organic and inorganic constituents. The organic components are the sugars, proteins, fats. The inorganic constituents are potassium, calcium, silica, iron, magnesium and sodium. Biochemic system deals with these inorganic salts. They in essence are the raw materials for the cells.
How does it work?
The organic and the inorganic constituents of the cell ensure normal functioning of the cell like secretion, synthesis, reproduction, metabolism, destruction of the dead cells. Imbalance or deficiency in the inorganic salts lead to a cascade of pathological processes that lead to symptoms.
Treatment:
The key is to restore the normal functioning of the cell and thus get rid of the symptoms. This is done by supplying these inorganic salts. Depending on the symptoms, the salt that balances the deficit of the particular cells is replenished by administering the biochemic remedies. Biochemic remedies are nothing but the inorganic tissue salts.
There are 12 tissue salts and each has its own properties. Usually more than one salt has to supplied as the pathology is nowadays more complex. The commonly used potency or strength is 6X or 12X. The routine dosage is 5 tablets of the salt 3-4 times per day.
Let us take an example:
If a person suffers from chronic generalized cramps and spasms, the tissue salt to correct this condition would be Magnesium Phosphate. This is because Magnesium Phosphate is a common constituent of the nerve fibers responsible for contraction. Deficiency of Magnesium Phosphate causes painful contractions and spasms. Therefore we resupply the Magnesium Phosphate in biochemic salt form, adequate amounts of which will restore the cellular balance and prevent the contractions and the spasms.
Following is the list of the 12 Biochemic Salts:
For a compound to be a biochemic salt, it has to be a constituent of the tissue. Kali Phosphate, Magnesium Phosphate, Calcium Phosphate, Natrum Phosphate, Ferrum Phosphate, Kali Muriaticum, Natrum Muriaticum, Calcarea Sulphate, Natrum Sulphate, Kali Sulphate, Calcarea Fluoride, Silica.
Difference between Homeopathy and the Tissue Salts:
Tissue salts are inorganic salts that act as essential elements for cell function. They can be compared to the vitamins. Just like deficiency of certain vitamins will cause symptoms and supplying those vitamins will take care of the symptoms, supplying the right tissue salt will take of the symptoms. In a nut shell, the tissue salt act on the physiological level.
On the other hand, Homeopathy acts on an energy level. This means it stimulates the body to heal itself. So homeopathic medicines themselves do not replenish anything, but stimulate the body to take care of itself. They sort of give a boost to the raw materials to do the job.
So, looking at the bigger picture- you need the raw materials( the tissue salts) and the energy to get them working( homeopathic remedies) to bring about the equilibrium and thus restore health.
