Relief from Joint Pain

October 4th; 6 – 7:30pm     Registration: $45 (includes take-home materials)
Presented by Renee Zambo, RTY, WholeHealth Chicago’s Yoga Therapist

Joint pain affects many people throughout their lives, the causes of which vary from person to person. This Yoga Therapy workshop is for anyone experiencing joint pain, whether a novice to yoga and movement or not.

The evening will begin with a brief discussion on the causes of joint pain, and how to build healthy function and support for joints. Renee Zambo, WholeHealth Chicago’s Yoga Therapist, will guide participants through gentle stretches focused on specific joints of the body – first with the toes, then moving up the fingers, wrists and shoulders. Slow and gradual strengthening techniques will be applied to the musculature that supports major joints. The class will end with restorative yoga postures, using props such as bolsters and blankets to support the body, for complete relaxation and ease.

All movements can be performed in a chair, if reaching the floor is challenging. Participants will be guided to move at their own pace, with mindfulness of breath and body to experience ease and relief without exhaustion or fatigue. A sequence of movements and instructions will be available after for a continued home practice.
