Do you experience fatigue, stress, pain or brain fog? Have you ever had a panic attack? Would you like to learn how to manage stress and improve mental clarity when life feels chaotic and overwhelming?
Join us to learn about Biofeedback for Heart Rate Variability. This effective, evidence-based tool teaches you how to regulate your heart rate in order to manage stress, negative emotions, and strengthen heart and brain functioning. Learning these skills trains your nervous system to run more efficiently, which restores energy, improves mental clarity, and deepens connections to yourself and others.
Take this knowledge of a healthy heart into Restorative Yoga postures, where participants are guided to unwind tension in the upper back and chest. Props such as blocks, bolsters, and blankets will be used in each pose to enhance comfort and relaxation. A guided meditation that combines heart centered breathing, mindfulness, and qualities of trust, enthusiasm, and compassion will close out the afternoon.
In this workshop, participants will learn:
- Biofeedback – the science, how it is used, and view a demonstration
- A Heart-Focused Breathing technique for self-regulation
- Movements for unwinding stress and tension in the upper back and chest
- Affirmations for qualities of self confidence and joy
- A Loving – Kindness Meditation on compassion towards oneself and others

Participants will have access to discounted one-on-one Biofeedback appointments with Valarie and a Yoga Therapy session with Renee.

Valarie McConville, OT is WholeHeatlh Chicago’s Occupational Therapist who teaches patients to manage stress, hypertension, anxiety and other issues using an array of tools including biofeedback.
Renee Zambo, RYT is Wholehealth Chicago’s Yoga Therapist who works with patients individually and in group settings to develop practices that promote healthy movement, relaxation, and mindfulness.
