From getting to sleep to staying asleep, sleep disturbances plague many of us. Our brains and bodies require a complete cycle of thorough rest to properly detox and rejuvenate. This lack of full restoration prevents body functions from fully restoring, and leads to additional diseases. Many factors inhibit our sleep cycle, the underlying cause of which medication doesn’t always address.
Yoga Therapy for Sleep Disturbance will discuss a few underlying causes for sleep disturbance, and ways to properly unwind at the close of a day. Specific methods to support participants with conditions such as chronic pain, high blood pressure, and elevated stress will be highlighted for improving rest and recovery.
In this workshop, you will practice:
- Mindful Breathing Techniques for calming the nervous system
- Yin Postures for deep relaxation
- Journaling and/or Coloring
- Yoga Nidra, a deeply restorative guided meditation for rejuvenation at our physical, energetic, and psycho-emotional levels.
This workshop is suitable for every level of practitioner, including those who have never practiced yoga before. Chair modifications are available for all yoga postures.
Participants will leave with materials such as breathe and posture instructions, and Yoga Nidra Meditation recordings for a continued home practice.
