Getting Off the Seasonal Sugar Rollercoaster

As we head into the darker winter months, it’s natural to experience the winter blues. Dr. Edelberg reminds us that as the light changes on these shorter days, our bodies adjust by producing less feel-good serotonin. And while it’s best to raise serotonin levels with exercise, sunlight (or a full spectrum light), and complex carbohydrates such as veggies and whole grains with each meal, we often reach instead for one food to power us through the holiday season: sugar.
