Advances in Fibromyalgia: Part 3

For fibromyalgia, there’s quite a bit you can do on your own. Some of this is old material, described in more detail in my book, The Triple Whammy Cure.

Other ideas are new based on conferences I have been attending, including:
Magnesium glycinate, at least 800 mg daily. Because of changes in our soil, the produce we eat contains far less magnesium and thus we are all magnesium-depleted. Magnesium is needed for muscle strength and tone and for thousands of other reactions in the body. If you have chronic constipation, magnesium citrate works better than magnesium glycinate.

B Complex, one daily (helps you make more serotonin).

Fish oil–use one of the maximum-omegas–two daily. If you keep the product in your freezer, you can avoid the burp factor, which affects some but not all people.

St. John’s wort 900 mg a day/5HTP 100 mg a day (serotonin boost).

DHEA 10 mg daily (only if your levels are low; recheck every 2 to 3 months).

Vitamin D 2,000 IU daily (recent research now places this on the must-have list for fibro and chronic fatigue).

Coenzyme Q-10 100 mg a day (energy “spark-plug” for your cells).

Vitamin C 1,000 mg twice a day (antioxidant).

NADH 5 mg twice a day (a key metabolic component of cellular energy—works for about 50% of patients).

These are all available at health food stores and from our apothecary (click on each drug to link to our website).

One final therapy is the intravenous vitamin and mineral mixture known as the Myers’ cocktail, after its inventor, Johns Hopkins internist John Myers.
