Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy uses movement, breathing techniques, and relaxation tailored for specific health conditions and individuals. Every part of a yoga therapy session is designed to deepen awareness of our physical, energetic, mental and emotional selves to create harmony. Breathing exercises establish a calm, centered state of mind. Movements are used to build symmetry and healthy musculature. Relaxation techniques restore vitality, improve brain function, and reduce stress.

Yoga Therapy helps reduce stress and promote wellness for those with anxiety, depression, mood fluctuations, weight loss, osteoporosis, specific injuries, chronic pain, fatigue, fibromyalgia and serious/prolonged illnesses. Just as every individual is vastly different, yoga therapy sessions can be very different from person to person, even with the same health condition.

    Hello Rene,
    I have been a patient of Dr E since Feb 2016. I have had severe Fibromyalgia for 30 years undiagnosed formally until I suffered serious health issues. I have been receiving therapeutic massage from Helen. I used to do yoga but in the past 3 years have been inactive. After major surgery last year April I suffered two post surgical infections and a long recovery period that I am still not quite myself yet. I have spinal issues including a hereditary disorder called Spondylolisthesis with pars defect which is destabilizing my spine. In addition I have a herniated disc and stenosis.
    I was recently diagnosed with Lupus and Scleroderma. I have lived with ulcerative colitis for 30 years. I have gained almost 30 pounds due to inactivity and this has been quite upsetting to me as I was always fit, tone, & active. Drs have recommended PT, Yoga and massage. I would like to talk to you further on the classes you offer and what which be best for me. I also wondered if you offered classes on the weekend? I am in CA seeing specialists but I will be returning to Chicago to begin an intensive chronic pain unit program for 4 weeks daily (M-F). I would like to start yoga with you in September.

    The wonderful aspect of Yoga Therapy is that it can be tailored to anyone, no matter what the condition. Like all the practitioners at WholeHealth Chicago, Yoga Therapy works to heal the whole person on mental, emotional, and physical levels, and not just a symptom. This means yoga therapy can include movement that is safe for you but also stress reducing techniques, various meditations, visualizations, and affirmations.
