Are you interested in learning about self-care tools for digestive health?
Your tummy is one of the most sensitive areas of your body. It sits at the center of your being— literally forming your core–and is lined with hundreds of millions of nerve endings. Our bellies affect everything from the immune system to mood. Many factors influence digestive health, including the external environment, the foods we eat, and internal stress.
Join us Saturday, April 22, for an afternoon of education and yoga therapy techniques for healing the digestive system. WholeHealth’s Nurse Practitioner Katie McManigal will discuss the biology of the digestive system and the many environmental factors affecting it. Renee Zambo, WholeHealth Chicago’s Yoga Therapist, will lead participants through a series of breathing techniques and postures designed to ground and soothe the entire GI system. The workshop will end with a mindful eating exercise to further explore our relationship to food and digestion.
In this workshop you will:
- Discover how biological and environmental factors shape the health of your gastrointestinal system.
- Learn specific breathing techniques to reduce stress and feel more grounded in your body.
- Practice yoga postures that soothe, detox, and ground the entire GI system.
- Practice a mindful eating exercise (on gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free foods) to explore your relationship to food and cultivate fulfillment.
