What is It?
Pyruvate is a salt form of pyruvic acid, a naturally occuring chemical that is important in the energy-generating reaction in animal cells know as the Kreb’s cycle.
Claims , based on very limited research, have been made that pyruvate can assist with weight loss. The actual studies used large amounts of pyruvate in a variety of patients with obesity or high blood fats, making it difficult to predict the results of pyruvate supplementation in the general population concerned with simple weight managment. For this reason, Wholehealthchicago.com does not recommend the use of pyruvate except under the supervision of a health care practitioner.
The large doses of pyruvate used in the human trials caused intestinal symptoms of diarrhea, and gas in some participants.
Weight Management – up to 30 g once a day, if under care of a licensed practitioner. More research is needed to prove dosage and effectiveness guidelines
